Preparing For Surgery
To be better prepared for your surgery and to make you feel more at ease, we would
like to explain the entire process to you.
What to Expect
Upon arriving at the office, you will be greeted by the receptionist and given
information forms to fill out. She will ask you for any dental or medical insurance
information you may have. She will also take any referral forms and radiographs
given to you by your dentist or physician. All this will be put into your chart and you
will be brought into the consultation room.
At this time, Dr. Miller will go over your health history and examine your mouth. Any
necessary x-rays will be taken and Dr. Miller will review his findings with you. Next,
Dr. Miller will explain the procedure to be performed, discuss which type of
anesthesia to use (local or general) and answer any questions you may have.
You will then be asked to wait in the reception area for a short time while the
operating room is prepared. The receptionist will schedule your follow-up
appointment, give you any necessary prescriptions and explain the bill and payment
policy. We have found it much more convenient for you to make these
arrangements prior to surgery.
Surgery
In the operating room, every attempt is made to make you feel at ease. If you are
having general
anesthesia, you will be connected to monitors to watch your blood pressure, EKG,
heart rate and oxygen level. Once the surgery is completed, a sterile gauze pad will
be placed over the surgery site and you will be taken to the recovery room.
Post Surgery
After having general , you will be quite drowsy and may not even realize that the
procedure is over. or escort will keep you company and help you wake up. All
patients receive written and oral instructions and are given extra gauze to help
control any oozing from the surgical site.
Every attempt is always made to make our patients as comfortable as possible.
From the time you walk in, until the time you leave, you are treated with the highest
quality care we can give you.
